'Naked Indians' or revealing residential design.
One navigates the web in search of stimulating and fresh design, but it isn't always easy to come by. For architects stimulating and new ideas is just that; design that will get you fired on your own route of personal design discovery.
Often the same architectural designs pop-up in all the major and popular architectural platforms like Architizer or Archdaily but it becomes quite run-of-the-mill.
Until I happened to spot 'Indios Desnudos'(Naked Indians). Not only was it naked and revealing architecture it had all the primitive energy of architectural indians. It soars it's site like the indians travelled the plains. They knew their territory and how to domesticate and learn from it and Victor Cañas knows his Costa Rica and better still he stretches the limits of both interior and exterior, and Le Corbusier's 'pilotis' one of the 5 points of architecture.
The boundary between interior and exterior is a hazy tint of glass that allows one to consume the entirety of the dramatic views of the Costa Rica coast.
There are magical balancing acts of terraces and platforms that defies one to lounge and sit amongst the dense vegetation like a naked indian and enjoy the contact with nature.
Waking up in a bedroom at the 'Indios Desnudos' residential home is like waking up from a pleasant dream that you try deseperately to fall back into.
The bathroom routine would make even a wild Tarzan feel at home with the close proximity of the surroundings.
It's well worth a trip to Victor Cañas splendid portfolio of architecture.
